MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
This organization was formed in August of 2004 by a group of concerned business men at the Villeneuve Airport. We felt it was time to step up to the plate and get involved in the operation and decisions that will affect this airport now and long into the future. As a united group, we feel that we can provide guidance and input that will assure our future and the future of general aviation at the Villeneuve Airport.
Since our inception, we have met with the Edmonton Regional Airport Authority (EIA) personnel and members of the local government. A dialogue has begun that is both insightful and productive. As president of VAOOA, I am very excited about our huge growth potential and about the way the EIA is working with our group. Many great things will be happening at Villeneuve in 2010. Mark this site on your browser for future updates. Come and visit us at CZVL.

AUGUST 21, 2010 (Tentative Date) - Villeneuve Airport Fly-In
The 2009 event was a huge success with just under 1000 hamburgers, hot dogs, and beverages served. Our thanks to the many volunteers and people that came for a wonderful day.
You and your family are invited to attend an open house and barbeque hosted by Edmonton Airports and the VILLENEUVE AIRPORT OWNERS & OPERATORS ASSOCIATION at the Villeneuve Airport on AUGUST 21, 2010 from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm. The event is hosted by Edmonton Airports (i.e., free!), but donations will be accepted on behalf of Hope Air, a charitable organization that arranges free flights for Canadians who must fly to seek medical treatment and are in financial need. For more information or to volunteer for the event, please contact Theresa Toukalas ttsoukalas@flyeia.com 780-890-6736. Remember -- great events are run with the help of great volunteers.
JANUARY 26, 2010 MEETING WITH ERAA
A very productive meeting was held at Villeneuve airport hosted by the VILLENEUVE OWNERS & OPERATORS ASSOCIATION at the Goldust Hanger (thank you Bruce and Perry). Dianne and her EIA team along with ten people from the airport attended . I will attempt to hit the high points for those that could not attend.
- We now have two people looking after maintenance at CZVL. This includes friction testing on the runways. The info can be requested from the tower.
- The water line repairs are completed in the new hanger lot areas and should complete testing in the near future.
- THE SUBDIVISION HAS IT FINAL APPROVAL AND CONSTRUCTION is now underway. The weather has caused some minor delays.
- Leasing inquires should go to Myron Keehn with EIA (mkeehn@flyeia.com).
- Lot 18 has been leased with tentative construction to begin in September.
- Proposed runway extension of 26 from the east end. I understand the numbers have been crunched and a budget set in place for this to happen. Some other issues are at play which will affect timing.
- Proposed ILS by Nav Canada, which is also affected by the runway extension. If the ILS goes ahead, then so will the runway. EIA will start the extension to get the ILS.
- GPS for the airport is complete and in the hands of the people at Nav Canada. There is a queue and I understand there to be about 3000 or more approaches awaiting approval. Reg Milley (EIA President) is talking to Nav Canada to see if he can get us to the front quicker. Todd Trischuck from our tower is going to attempt to find out where we are in the queue.
- Another attempt at an area structure plan is in the works. Without this plan we will not get the new water line into the airport. We can continue to operate, but will be limited in future expansion until this and other issues are resolved at the county and regional government levels.
- City Center Airport is planning to close 16-34 after the running of the Indy in July 2010 -- more info as I get it. There are lawsuits on the books that prevent further discussion of this with EIA.
- Next tentative date for a planning meeting and or update with EIA is end of April
